Lampedusa is the largest island of the Pelagie archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the most southern Italian territory ever.
The beach of the Rabbits of Lampedusa is today one of the few sites in the Mediterranean where Caretta caretta sea turtles lay their eggs. The whole island is a nature reserve.
