We will visit Palermo and Cefalù, two of the most important art cities of Sicily which became UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2015 thanks to their Arab-Norman itineraries.
We will reach Palermo by highway passing through the beautiful Sicilian hinterland. To ensure comfort during the trip we will make a short stop for a coffee in a service area.
Palermo is the capital of Sicily and is rich in very important Arab-Norman, Byzantine and Spanish testimonies. We will begin our visit to Palermo with a walking tour passing through the Quattro Canti, from the Church of the Martorana, Piazza Bellini, Piazza Pretoria, from the Cathedral walking through the historic center. The picturesque Cape Market is inevitable with a choice of fish, street food, grattatelle and typical food. Alternatively, visit Monreale, famous for its mosaics (optional). Lunch (optional) at a typical restaurant in the center.
In the afternoon we will leave for Cefalu to visit the historic center of the maritime border and the Norman Cathedral with the famous Christ Pantocrator. We will walk through the medieval streets and reach the beautiful beach of fine sand.
Return via Messina in order to complete the tour along the coast without going over the hinterland.
