Overview

Excursion to Panarea and Salina from Milazzo.

Depart from the port of Milazzo at 9 am for the island of Panarea, a magical island that holds archaeological and natural treasures. You can explore the prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese, which dates back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-1300 BC) and can be reached on foot in about 45 minutes or by Panarea’s typical electric taxis. Reach Cala Zimmari, a secluded bay nestled among the rocks. With its crystal-clear waters and characteristic red sand, this corner of paradise will provide you with moments of absolute relaxation and serenity. Enjoy the sun at Cala Junco, one of the most beautiful inlets in the Aeolian archipelago. Here, you will feel as if you are suspended between sky and sea, surrounded by rocks that give it a peculiar U-shape.

Next, you will depart for Salina, nicknamed the ‘garden of the Aeolian Islands’ because it is the most fertile island. Here the fine grapes from which Malvasia is obtained and the famous Salina capers exported all over the world are cultivated. Having landed at the port of Santa Marina, the boat will make a stop to allow you to visit the island on your own.

The town centre of Santa Marina rises on the slopes of the Fossa delle Felci, the archipelago’s highest peak, also known as the ‘Roof of the Aeolian Islands’, which consists of a huge crater covered by dense vegetation. Santa Marina is the liveliest spot on the island with its small shops, perfect for buying beautiful souvenirs, and typical restaurants where you can enjoy island specialities. Admire the Church of Santa Marina, an 18th-century church overlooking the harbour square famous for its bell towers and majolica floor, and stroll through the picturesque alleyways of the old town.
