The seaside village of Marzamemi is located in the municipality of Pachino. It is very close to Noto, the capital of the Baroque, from which it is just 20 kilometers away.
The fishing village was formed around a landing place, which later became a fishing port. Subsequently, already at the time of the Spanish domination in Sicily, one of the most important Sicilian tuna fisheries was built in Marzamemi and a series of commercial and industrial activities related to tuna fishing developed.
