The Alcantara is a 53 km long river in eastern Sicily. The bed of the Alcantara, from a volcanological point of view, has seen the passage on several occasions of lava flows that have obstructed and modified the path. Alcantara is one of the main Sicilian rivers and has a rather regular flow even if in any case there are exceptional floods due to persistent rains.
