Excursion from Syracuse to Marzamemi and Capo Passero. The tour will start at 8:30 am.
Visit of Marzamemi, an evocative fishing village developed around the still active Tonnara. Here you can watch the tuna being processed. After visiting Marzamemi, we will continue to Portopalo di Capo Passero from where by boat we will reach the island of Capo Passero. From this splendid islet you can swim in the Ionian Sea and in the Mediterranean Sea.
At the end of the excursion not to be missed is the (optional) tasting of the famous Cremolata on the Terrace of the Two Seas.
End of the excursion scheduled for 13:00.
The fishing village was formed around a landing place, which later became a fishing port. Subsequently, already at the time of the Spanish domination in Sicily, one of the most important Sicilian tuna fisheries was built in Marzamemi and a series of commercial and industrial activities related to tuna fishing developed.
The island of Capo Passero is located a few tens of meters from the mainland even if it was once a peninsula. It is part of the municipality known as Portopalo di Capo Passero. It is a mainly agricultural and maritime center, bathed by the two seas: the Ionian and the Mediterranean.
